Hope you like your elephant

Your memorial post has finally been finished and fitted - it is truly beautiful and Daddy and I are so so pleased with it. It's strange because as soon as we saw a picture of the finished piece, the little elephant instantly made us think of you. Particularly the little cheeky smirk being expressed by the elephant. It captures you perfectly, and now when we visit it will be so much more personable. I'm sure your little brother will like it too, so much so that he'll probably want to take it home!

Speaking of your little brother, he is now 35 weeks and 1 day. He is currently weighing 6lbs, 9ozs so a little chunky monkey as you were only 6lb, 15ozs at birth (37 weeks and 4 days). Saying that, Daddy and I think he will be making an early appearance like you so who knows he might even be here in a few weeks!

I've been thinking about your first birthday a lot recently. Can't believe you would have been a year old in less than 3 weeks. I imagine that you would have been standing with some support right now, learning to explore higher surroundings. Your hair would have been longer and thicker and your teeth would be visible as you grinned from ear to ear. I know you would have been such a happy and chilled out little boy. I could tell that as soon as you were born as those memorising eyes peered in to mine, staring intently as if your eyes were in conversation with mine. We haven't thought about how it will feel come the 21st September, but we imagine it's going to be very hard and emotional. Your little brother might even be here by then!

These imagages of what you would be like now will only ever be figments of my imagination. However, they make me smile so whilst this is the case I will allow my mind to drift to another place from time to time and into a world that might have once been.

It was our 3rd wedding anniversary at the weekend so we had a little trip away to the Forest of Dean, very close to where we stayed shortly after we lost you. It was a nice few days away, doing a little bit of trekking  which wasn't much in my current condition and visiting under ground caves that where once used for mining. We were lucky enough to have great weather and the place we stayed 'Tudor Farm House' was stunningly tranquil which provided us with the perfect relaxing environment. We thought and spoke about you and your little brother lots, we often do, daily and wonder how alike or different you both would have been. We can only buy imagine.

The money raised through your tribute page continues to grow which is amazing. Lots of new events have taken place and others are planned in the coming months. It's now over 30k which is absolutely incredible, I am truly amazed at how much money you have helped raised for other children and families that are, and will at some point sadly experience what we had to endure. The only comfort we can cling to, is the legacy you have created to help make a difference and for that, I am so so proud.

We miss you dearly baby boy, hope you enjoy playing with your new elephant and sharing it with others.

Lots of love always.
